Jesse is one of those kids who is just pure fun to work with.  I’ve known her family for a few years, but I don’t think I ever got to really meet Jesse until the day of our shoot.  When we started talking at the beginning of the session about the style she was going for, I was instantly excited to get started.  Jesse really wanted to show her own unique personality in her shoot, and she totally brought it.  I love that she was a little shy when we got started, but was totally having fun with it by the end. I think we were completely able to capture Jesse in a way that is true and authentic to who she is, and I’m glad I got to work with her for her senior session!

I LOVE this time of year because the high school seniors start filling up my schedule!! Senior portraits are one of my favorite sessions to shoot for so many reasons.  First and foremost, most seniors are REALLY excited to be getting their pictures taken. It makes for a fun session with lots of laughs.  Due to social media (I’m talkin’ about you, snapchat), most seniors are pretty aware of how they want to “look” for their pictures.  They’re typically really comfortable in front of the camera which means that pretty much every shot turns into a “money shot.”  I delete very few pictures from each senior session!  The biggest reason I love snapping high school seniors is because it really is a fun time to capture the transition between child –> young adult. There’s so much excitement, anticipation, relief, and nervousness that comes during the last part of senior year. I love getting to capture that not just for graduation announcements, but also for looking back on in 10, 20, 40, 50 years!!

Maura was amazing for her session.  She was so relaxed and easy to work with.  Maura wanted something different from everyone else in her high school, so she came down from Idaho to do her session at Tony Grove.  She had the cutest outfits that worked so well up there. Her makeup by Emily Brodock was flawless, too! She has such a sweet and kind personality, and I really enjoyed spending the evening with her and her mom.  It was a perfect night!

Emma & Ellie || Tony Grove Portraits

Every family has one.  You know what I’m talking about…. right??? That’s right… the cray cray dog lady.  And in my family, it’s my sister – Emma. I don’t know exactly how it happened, but all of a sudden one day, Em showed up with the most adorable puppy I’ve ever seen.  And I don’t […]

And I don’t even like dogs (or animals. Side story: my family dog bit my heels when I was a toddler, so we’re pretty sure that’s why I’m terrified of like ALL animals.  Like, I literally wouldn’t stick my finger in a goldfish bowl for fear of getting bit.  My 7 year old often asks why I don’t like animals and I have to tell him it’s just the way God made me.) ANYWAY, back to Emma. Emma is the epitome of the crazy dog lady.  She has travel dog dishes in her car, pays for doggy day care, has spent thousands of dollars on vet bills (Ellie is a bit high maintenance), and, oh yea…. she did a cake smash for Ellie’s first birthday.  If all these things don’t spell out really weird adorable, I don’t know what does. I do have to admit though – when she comes to visit our house, walking into a room with Ellie on the couch or Ellie laying on the kitchen floor just makes my home look more cozy.  Like a giant dog fur ball rug.  Love you Emma and Ellie!! Glad you’re the crazy in the family and not me!! (Who am I kidding…. I have three kids.  I’m definitely more crazy.)

Sadie’s senior portrait session was so much fun.  We had been chatting quite a bit before her session to get her prepared, and I was so excited to meet her in person.  Sadie lives in Missouri, but wanted her Senior portraits to stand out and be unique from the rest of her high school class.  She decided to have them done in Utah while visiting her grandpa, and I think it was such a fun idea to do so! I lived in Omaha for my husband’s grad school, so I’m pretty familiar with what the landscape of the midwest looks like.  And I can say that Tony Grove is pretty much the most beautiful place in Northern Utah, so it was the perfect “wow”factor Sadie was going for for her shoot.  We met up in Logan and headed up there for the perfect night.  It was perfect lighting, her outfit was so cute, her makeup was amazing (thanks to the lovely, Emily Brodock at K Salon), the wildflowers were in bloom – it literally was a picturesque evening!

Sadie is one of those girls who excels at everything she does.  While chatting on the way up, I learned she’s involved in sports and multiple clubs and activities at school.  She also is highly successful in her education, and is currently weighing her options for her college career. Sadie is not only involved in all these things – but she is kind, energetic, thoughtful, and fun.  I really enjoyed the evening with her and her mom and grandpa.  It was such a pleasant night, and I’m so glad Sadie chose me to work with for her senior pics!

Good luck on your senior year, Sadie!!

Katherine is so beautiful! And her session was amazing.  We got off to a rocky start when my camera battery read as dead even though I knew it was charged! Katherine is so beautiful! And her session was amazing.  We got off to a rocky start when my camera battery read as dead even though I knew it was charged! Luckily a quick cleaning of the sensors changed that…. but dang, working with electronics can be a killer sometimes!  After that little hiccup, everything was smooth sailing.  Katherine is a beauty in front of the camera, and has such a sweet smile. Garden Park Ward was the perfect backdrop again – I still can’t believe I had never heard of it until this last spring!  I really enjoyed everything about this session!
